Mongoose Jaguar-Land Rover (JLR) 

Jaguar-Land Rover has approved the Mongoose® JLR  as a supported interface and will offer it directly to Jaguar and Land Rover dealerships as the factory diagnostics tool. Mongoose JLR is a low cost VCI for OEM diagnostics and reprogramming.

WHAT IS J2534 AND HOW WILL IT HELP ME?

J2534 OR PASS THRU technology is a protocol or software language that EU5 legislation has approved in agreement with all European Car Manufacturers. In essence it allows Independent Aftermarket garages to purchase inexpensive tools like the CARDAQ+, then go online to an OEM internet portal, register themselves, pay a subscription, then download the OEM software for either ECU flash programming or diagnostics, depending on what the individual OEM allows. With this software installed on a laptop and in conjunction with CARDAQ+, they can then diagnose or program vehicle ecus just like the dealers can.

It is important to note that each OEM has different Terms & Conditions of use, different charges for the use of their software, different periods of time that a subscription can be bought for, and most importantly different levels of capability within their software. Some allow FULL diagnostics and programming just the same as the dealer, while others allow only flash programming of ECUS. Where we list links to OEM websites it is imperative that you check carefully exctly what each OEM offers before commiting to paying for a subscription.

What is J2534?

SAE J2534 is a standard for communications between a computer and a vehicle. Government regulations require all automakers provide a J2534 service to EVERYONE in the U.S. for re-flashing emissions related controllers. If you own a SAE J2534 Pass-Thru device, you can re-flash and, in some cases, diagnose vehicles with factory functionality. Click here for more information on the capabilities of J2534.

In recent years the EPA, CARB, and European Union have required automotive companies to allow for emissions-related modules (ECM/TCM) to be reprogrammable without use of special and often very expensive factory tools, in an effort to reduce harmful emissions.  Because of the success and ease of J2534 some manufacturers have now begun to offer factory diagnostics as well as reprogramming capabilities.
